Portugal’s President Honors Cork Supply

President of the Portuguese Republic, Professor Doutor Aníbal Cavaco Silva, honored Cork Supply — one of Portugal's leading producers and exporters of premium natural wine corks — with a Presidential visit to Cork Supply Portugal's cutting-edge R&D and production facilities in S. Paio de Oleiros.

As part of the President's "Route to the Local Innovatory Communities" leadership initiative, President Silva's visit awarded Cork Supply the highest official recognition for their major achievements and investments in advancing innovation, quality and sustainability in Portugal's natural cork industry.

Highlights of President Silva's visit included a welcome reception hosted by Cork Supply Founder and President Jochen Michalski; a guided tour of Cork Supply Portugal's state-of-the-art technical lab and production facilities (newly built and inaugurated in 2008 with a production capacity of 700 million corks); a tribute celebrating the revolutionary innovation of Cork Supply's patented Innocork^® TCA-extraction technology; and a memorable gathering with Cork Supply's employees to salute their relentless commitment and passion to continuous improvement.
